Sound Coding Strategies and Signal Processing Methods for Cochlear
Implants and Hearing Aids
Description:
In this Lecture you will learn how the signal processing of a hearing aid and a cochlear implant works from a theoretical and from a practical point of view. The idea is that you first receive a theoretical overview of a single aspect of the whole signal processing chain and next you practice with it using a Matlab environment. The lecture is divided in three sub-blocks: 1) Introduction, 2) Signal Processing for Cochlear Implants and 3) Signal Processing for combination of Hearing Aids and Cochlear Implants. For each sub-block 50% of the time will theory and 50% of the time will be practice with MATLAB.
Goals:
At the end of the course you will create a simulator that synthesizes the sound experience that a CI user would perceive.
Prior Knowledge:
None. If you don’t have experience with Matlab we will provide you with training and the practice will be adapted to your level.
Dates:
05.05.2014 (Monday) – 07.05.2014 (Wednesday) - 15 hours in Total
